Mercury Hotels & Resorts is the latest brand offering from Mercury Hotels International. The company's target for the brand is to have ten properties in the development pipeline by the end of 2010. These properties will be developed in Gateway US cities such as San Francisco, Chicago and Boston, as well as North American locations such as Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, and Toronto, Canada. Development in Asia will be in international hubs of commerce such as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Mumbai. In Europe, Milan, London, and Paris will be targeted. Development will occur mostly with new construction, adaptive reuse projects, and mixed use projects.
Mercury Hotels and Resorts properties will be highly exclusive four and five star hotel properties focusing on the upper-luxury market segment. US properties currently rated as four star will be eligible for conversion into the brand, however, they will strive to attain the fifth star Mobil rating within three years of brand membership. European properties currently rated as three star can apply for membership, however, they must strive to attain the fourth star within three years of membership.
The brand's competition will include brands such as Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Mandarin Hotels, and Relais & Chateaux, among others.
